Trace the pattern including darts, dots, and foldline.

Fold fabric in half along lengthwise grainline.

Place pattern on fabric aligning double arrow with fold of fabric. Pin in place.

Cut out fabric. Be sure to cut two bag sections.

Trace darts, dots, and foldline for casing onto fabric.

Stitching:

1

To make darts, on each bag section fold right sides together and stitch along traced line. Press each dart towards bottom of bag.

2

With right sides together, stitch bag sections along sides and lower edge, leaving an opening between the upper dots, and between the dart and lower dots, as shown. Press seams open.

3

To form casing, turn the upper edge of the bag to the inside along the foldline, turning under 1/4" (6mm) on the raw edge; press. Stitch as shown.

4

Turn right side out and press.

5

Insert one end of the cord through the side opening of the casing. Pull the cord through the entire casing one and a half times, exiting the casing on the opposite side.

6

A.
Try on the bag and adjust the cord length evenly over the shoulders.

B.
Insert the ends of the cord through the openings at the lower edge.

7

On the inside, pin the cord and seam allowances together, having the raw edges even. Stitch the openings closed, catching the cord in the stitching.

8

Turn right side out. Enjoy!
