Personalized Notebook Cover and Pencil Case
Pencil Case

You will need...

• 2 pieces of fabric, each 121/2" x 181/2" (32cm x 47cm)

• Matching thread

• Scissors

• Pins

• Hook-and-loop tape (Velcro®)

• Sewing thread

• Fabric paint pens

1 With right sides together, pin-baste the two pieces of fabric.

Stitch around the outside edge with a seam allowance of 5/8" (15mm), pivoting at corners, and leaving a 3" (7.5cm) opening on one short side.

2 Trim corners diagonally. Turn right side out through the opening; press. Slip stitch the opening closed.
3 Fold up one short end of rectangle 61/2" (16.5cm) to form a pocket and pin in place. Baste sides of pocket closed.
4 Topstitch 1/4" (6mm) from edge all around rectangle. Remove basting stitches; press.
5 Hand stitch loop side of hook-and-loop tape to pocket and hook side to inside of flap.
Tips

The pencil case can also double as a make-up bag or carrying case for small toys.

6 Decorate with fabric paint or appliqués.
